Updated: Tibet Travel Bureau has begun to re-opened Tibet Travel Permit application from 26th July,2011. Please note that Tibet is so hot after 1 month’s close that it is hardly to buy a train tickets or flight ticket to enter and return from Lhasa. So try to avoid entering tibet in August if possible.
Things change all the time, especial that in Tibet. I have been informed from my friend in Tibet Travel Bureau that the government will not accept the Tibet permit application for these days from 25th June to 25th July,2011. I guess everyone know the main reason, that is to celebrate the 60th Liberation anniversary of Tibet.
So if you plan to visit Tibet in that days and haven’t get your Tibet permit yet, you have to adjust your travel plan now.
If I have any news, I will update in time.

Thanks a lot!
Hello.
I travel to Tibet this summer.
I have had problems with the permits in july so we changed the dates to august the 2nd. Aparently there is no problem because the ban runs till the 25th of july but I´m really worried about it.
I´ll be very grateful if you could tell me any news about the situation.
Thanks a lot.
Best regards
Dear Edurne,
Thank you very much for visiting my website and leave your comment.
Currently there is not any news showing government will last the ban further. However Chinese government always change the mind suddenly. For your situation, if you would like to enter Tibet on 2nd August, I suggest you choose one agency and provide them your materials to apply for Tibet Permit ASAP now. It might be late if you start to apply for your Tibet Permit from 26th July, since it will take about 7 working days for the process.
Hope this is useful for you.
Best Wishes,
Ryan
